Located only seven miles from the Pacific Ocean, Rosemary’s Vineyard is the most westerly of the four vineyards owned and farmed by Talley Vineyards. Climatically, it is the coolest because of its proximity to the coast and direct access to ocean breezes that flow through the east-west corridor formed by the Arroyo Grande Valley. Situated on a steep hillside surrounding Don and Rosemary Talley’s home, the first vines were planted in 1987 and 1988 and are the main source of fruit for this single vineyard selection. The property is characterized by shallow, calcareous soil that is rocky at the surface, underlain by sandstone. The well-drained soil promotes low vigor and excellent concentration.
