Description
Our 2023 Gust Pinot Noir is made from two of our estate vineyards located within the Petaluma Gap AVA: Diamond Pile Vineyard (71%) and Catapult Ranch (29%). Though only five miles apart, these vineyards offer unique expressions of Pinot Noir. Diamond Pile Vineyard lies at the southwestern base of Sonoma Mountain, with west-facing slopes fully exposed to the region’s famous wind and fog. This vineyard is planted to Dijon clones, that along with their exposure, naturally stress the vines resulting in low-yields that produce Pinot Noir with ethereal qualities—delicate blue fruit, elegant spice, and remarkable finesse. Catapult Ranch Vineyard is located at the western base of Wildcat Mountain to the south. Planted with heritage Pinot Noir clones, the undulating hills provide some protection from the wind and fog, allowing for the development of structure and concentration. This vineyard contributes bold red fruit flavors and a hint of Sauvage. The 2023 growing season was one of the coolest in recent memory. These cool conditions required meticulous vineyard management to ensure optimal ripeness and disease-free fruit. The result was a beautifully concentrated vintage with impressive depth, balanced acidity, and lower sugar levels, producing wines of power, elegance, and balance.
